About QETools

QETools provides high value statistical analysis software and solutions to support Six Sigma and Design for Six Sigma Continuous Improvement Efforts. The company was formed initially by University of Michigan researchers to provide a highly functional, user-friendly, Excel-based add-in tool for Six Sigma practitioners. The QETools add-in allows users to Quickly and Easily learn and apply the various problem solving TOOLS and statistical analysis methods. QETools software focuses on providing data analysis tools and problem solving templates commonly used in Six Sigma Green Belt projects. QETools also provides a Six Sigma analysis roadmap to help users work through the DMAIC problem solving process. The principal architects of the QETools software were Dr. Patrick Hammett, Dr. Luis Garcia-Guzman, and Steven Geddes. Both Hammett and Guzman are actively involved in the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering’s Six Sigma Program. They also teach several quality and statistics courses for the Industrial and Operations Engineering Department within the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering. Dr. Hammett is the Director of the University Of Michigan College Of Engineering’s Six Sigma Program and teaches related Quality and Statistical Analysis Method courses in the Industrial and Operations Engineering Department. As lead instructor for live and online Six Sigma training, he has taught over 10,000 students across different manufacturing and service versions of Green Belt, Black Belt, and Design for Six Sigma courses.

Dr. Hammett also conducts research at the University of Michigan Transportation. His primary research focus involves data analysis methods to support the validation phase of new product development. Among his areas of interest are dimensional engineering, tolerance adjustment methods, functional build manufacturing validation strategies, and 3D non-contact measurement technology systems. His past research sponsors include General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Visteon, and Harley Davidson. Outside his University work, Dr. Hammett is also president of a small consulting company, MVS Group (www.mvsgroup.com). Dr. Hammett received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, he worked for General Motors.
