HELP - Installation Troubleshooting
  1. I just purchased a copy of QETools but the file did not download. How do I get my copy of QETools?
The "Order Success" page had a table listing the downloadable file(s) that you purchased. If you did not download at that time then please follow the link in your order confirmation e-mail to view your order history (QETools.com >> My Account [login required]). Find your recent order and click "view" for more details. A download link is provided in the "Download links" table near the bottom of the page. Download and follow the installation instructions in your order confirmation e-mail.
  2. The installation fails because I am not an Administrator. How do I work around this?
You must have Administrator privledges on your computer to install QETools.
  3. The installation fails with a quick flash of a black screen (comand window)
The installation file is corrupt and likely did not download in its entirity. Some downloads terminate prematurely, particularly when using a slower network connection, causing the installation file to be corrupt. Please contact QETools Support for a workaround to the normal download.
HELP - Technical/Operation
  1. Can I reformat my graphs?
Yes. Each QE Tools analysis creates its own live Excel worksheet and uses standard Excel features and objects. Thus, you can select and modify any of the objects just as you would in Excel. Chart title, axes, colors, styles and formats are all customizable.
  2. I modify my data in the variable data sheet, but my analyses, charts and graphs do not update.
Each QE Tools analysis creates its own worksheet with a copy of the data from the variable data entry worksheet. Data modified in the entry worksheet will be used in all analyses following the data change. Charts, graphs and analyses previously performed must be modified by updating data in the worksheet for that specific tool. Alternatively, you can rerun the analyses once the data have been modified in the variable data entry sheet.
  3. Can I use formulae on the variable data sheet?
Yes. However, when one of the QE Tools analyses is initiated, the data values from the variable data entry sheet are copied to the new analysis tool worksheet. Thus, making a change to one of the data entries in the newly created analysis worksheet will not cause the data to update in dependent formula cells. The data are copied as values and represent a snapshot of the variable data entry sheet upon creation.
  4. Is there a limit to the number of output sheets in my project workbook?
QE Tools operates as an Add-in within Excel and does not limit the number of output sheets. According to Microsoft the number of worksheets is a workbook is "limited only by avalable memory" though performance can degrade with large workbooks (a function of many factors and is related by the number of sheets). QE Tools provides a warning when the QE Tools project file contains thirty (30) worksheets as it may be possible that unnecessary worksheets are being maintained and thereby inflating file size and reducing performance.
  5. Why do variable names appear to be changed on my variable entry data sheet?
QE Tools uses an algorithm to reduce long variable names to fifteen (15) characters. For variables whose names are greater than fifteen (15) characters in length, the first eight (8) and last (7) characters combine to a new variable name.
  6. Can I use data in a QE Tools analysis tool if it does not appear in the variable data entry sheet?
Yes. You have the option to select data from a “range” rather than selecting data from the available variable data on the data entry worksheet. [show me]
  7. What if QE Tools does not have a tool that I need for my job?
Please contact Support@QETools.com to suggest a future product enhancement or to enquire about tool customization for your organization. QE Tools provides many of the standard Six Sigma quality tools but your suggestion can lead to improvements!
